Open Show 10 May 1992

Judge Norman Ziman

BIS Mathewson's BURNCOTE BELESHA

It was a great honour to be invited to judge the bitch classes at the Open Show. Coming as it did immediately after two days of the World Congress followed by Hound day at Birmingham the fairly low entry was hardly surprising, but whatever may have been lacking in quantity was certainly made up for in quality, although I was a bit disappointed in some of the heads - the standard calls for a muzzle which is long, deep and powerful. Ridges were generally good, and with one exception temperament was excellent

PUPPY BITCH (3) 1. Joslyn's TUKELA KASEMBE. At 11 months this feminine bitch shows every sign of growing into a really super animal and in the final line-up she was a close contender for best of sex. Elegant and feminine all over, nothing about her is exaggerated but everything fits together really well. Nice head and expression, neck of correct length, good bone, correct angulation front and rear and an excellent topline, both standing and moving. Good tight feet but pasterns still need to tighten
2. Tuson's MATABELLE MZURI TEMBA. A generally sound bitch who was unfortunate to come up against such strong competition. Shoulders and back need to strengthen up and head needs to fine down a little, but this is another bitch who should go on to do well

JUNIOR BITCH (3) 1. Storey's SANSILVER DIAMOND LIFE. Good head and nice, deep muzzle. Well balanced and with good, tight feet, she moved with real power
2. Davis' MIRENGO'S MAYURI. Head not as fine as 1 but a very pleasing outline
3. Gamble's MIRENGO'S MATTIE

NOVICE BITCH (4). Mathewson's BURNCOTE BELESHA. A beautiful bitch showing all the qualities one would hope for. Lovely clean outline, good length of neck, compact body with firm topline, correct angulation, well-muscled without being at all coarse, and moved superbly. A worthy BIS
2.SANSILVER DIAMOND LIFE
3. Ellis' WILJOE TAMBA OF ZEJAK

POSTGRADUATE BITCH (4) 1. BURNCOTE BELESHA
2. Hick's SANSILVER PUMALANGA. Lovely outline showing super angulation. Perfect Ridgeback feet, but not as strong a mover as I would have liked

LIMIT BITCH (4). 1.Craigie's IMBALI HIZIRI. Excellent shoulders and well-muscled. Good topline. Nice tight feet. Showed plenty of drive, making it look as if she could have carried on for ever
2. Killick's MOSIOATUNYA ARTEMIS. Another quality bitch, but whose head was not as typical as 1.

OPEN BITCH (6). 1. Adsett-Dixon's CH UMTALI MARULA. Stood out in the strongest class of the day. Very feminine head with soft expression. Well balanced front and rear, with strong back of good length. Nice feet. Moved well showing drive and stamina
2. Joslyn's TUKELA SHONA. Another good bitch but lost out to 1 on head. Excellent angulation and moved beautifully, striding out with real drive
3. Short's MATABELLE MARONDARA

VETERAN BITCH (6). 1. Simper's CH MATABELLE MOYALE. An 8 year old showing little sign of age. Lovely head and expression with typical ears nicely set. Long, but strong back, well-sprung ribs, well angulated with strong quarters and good bend of stifle. Strong hocks and tight feet
2. Davis' MIRENGO'S MARZAL. Another one with a good feminine head. Good length of neck, fitting well onto correctly angled shoulders. Tight front, excellent topline, keeping firm on the move. Strode out well and moved true
3. Barnes' DIAMONDRIDGE KUSHIKA

Unfortunately, we have not received a critique for dogs.
