Southern Rhodesian Ridgeback Association

28th June 2025

Judge: Marion Hunt

Very nice to be amongst the ridgebacks again albeit on one of the hottest days of the year, the dogs mostly coped with the heat, some of the handlers less so. I tried not to move the hounds too much, although I would normally move them all a bit more. Ridges ok. I was concerned that several hounds were on the square side, when if you have attended seminars for this breed it is firmly said that they should not be square, this results in the croup being flat.

Best In Show – Parson’s Priorpark’s Par For The Course JW
Best Puppy In Show – Hurn’s Kwanza El Faiyum At Matikiridge (IMP NLD)
Reserve Best In Show – Salmon & Hawkin’s Lobengula Giah

Best Veteran In Show – Parker’s Ch Kiromol As You Like It With Azuli JW

MPD (2,0)

Two promising pups contested this class. Both were moving well.

1. Champion’s – Diamondridge Dragon King. More mature than 2, good bone and shoulder. Well muscled quarters, firm top line and enjoying his time in the spotlight.

2. Tollworthy’s – Jocerik Henrik Angan. Still very much at the gangly stage but all there for time to work its magic

PD (3,0)

1. Hurn’s – Kwanza El Faiyum at Matikiridge. Well balanced hound with lovely outline , nice head and neck leading to well placed shoulders. Good deep body and spring of ribs. Firm topline with slight rise over the loin. Good bone down to good feet. Moving with a long stride and correct footfall. Should have a bright future which I will watch with interest. BPD & BP

2. Champion’s – Diamondridge Dragon King.

Very little between the 1st 2 in this class.

1. Clarke’s – Wolfgang Amadeus. Well muscled and and using himself well to move round the ring. Nice head of good proportion. Good shoulder placement and slight sternum. Deep chest and ribbing. Well muscled quarters.

1. Raymond’s – Sofala’s Raffaello(Ai) JW. 2 year old dog with nice head, clean neck, good ribbing round deep chest. Good straight bone down to well knuckled feet. Firm topline and well turned stifles. Good firm muscles used well on the move.

2. Hicks’ – Nuthouse Mastermind. Well proportioned head but his lack of pigmentation round his eyes rather spoilt his expression. Firm muscles and good stifles enabled him to move well.
